    Coastal Bend College offers health insurance for the employee and the employee's spouse and unmarried children under age 26, and a choice of dental plans with the Employees Retirement System of Texas. Additional options include AD&D (accidental death and dismemberment) coverage for employee and/or eligible dependents, short- and long-term disability; and long-term care insurance plan. In addition, CBC offers two times the employee's annual salary in life insurance with the option for employees to purchase additional life insurance on the employee and the option to purchase a life insurance plan for eligible dependents. Eligible dependents are defined as a legal spouse and unmarried children under the age of 26.  

    Retirement Options

    CBC employees do not make contributions to FICA; instead, they must participate in either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or an Optional Retirement Plan (ORP).  
    Clerical, staff, classified, and other professional employees participate in TRS. Administrators, faculty and contract staff have the option of switching to ORP within their first 90 days of hire. Click here for an overview of TRS and ORP.
