    Purchase and Support Policy

    Software Purchase

    All software purchases that require multiple licenses or that will be networked must be approved by IT Services.  The same policy as for hardware purchases will be followed for this type of software purchase.  

    Single copies of software for individual faculty/staff use need not be preapproved, but a copy of the license must be supplied to IT ServicesIT Services has been assigned the task of monitoring CBC software licensing.  If there are questions about having the proper hardware to support a particular software package, please contact IT Services for advice.  

    II. Software Support  

    IT Services can provide only limited software support.   IT Services will install software that will be networked, however, because of the vast number of individual software programs, in most cases, IT Services will not be able to install or troubleshoot individual software programs.  IT Services can provide technical support for the following software:     

    Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, etc.), Adobe Products licensed to CBC, Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari.

    III. Home Computers  

    IT Services does not provide support for your home computer, including CBC supported software.  If you are having trouble with your home computer, please call a local computer repair facility to have it serviced.  

    VI. Network Software Installation  

    All software to be installed on the CBC Network must be approved by IT Services prior to purchase.  

    All new software shall be submitted to the network administrator for evaluation  and testing and to ensure that compatibility and security standards are met.  

    All new software installations and upgrades will require a minimum of 30 days notice before it is to be put into production.  

    Any software upgrades that affect many or all students will only be done between semesters unless it is to resolve an already existing problem.

    Routine updates and Version upgrades will only be done between semesters,  and require a 30 day notice.
