    Purchase and Support Policy

    Software Purchase

All software purchases that require multiple licenses or that will be networked must be approved by the computer center.  The same policy as for hardware purchases will be followed for this type of software purchase.

Single copies of software for individual faculty/staff use need not be pre-approved, but a copy of the license must be supplied to the Computer Center. The Computer Center has been assigned the task of monitoring CBC software licensing.   If there are questions about having the proper hardware to support a particular software package, please contact the computer center for advice.

    II. Software Support

The computer center can provide only limited software support.   They will install software that will be networked, however, because of the vast number of individual software programs, in most cases, they will not be able to install or troubleshoot individual software programs.

The Computer Center can provide technical support for the following software:

    Windows XP and 7

Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, Outlook)

Corel WordPerfect (limited to licensed copies)

    Adobe Products licensed to CBC

    Internet Explorer

    III. Home Computers

The Computer Center does not provide support for your home computer, including CBC supported software.

If you are having trouble with your home computer, please call a local computer repair facility to have it serviced.

    VI. Network Software Installation

All software to be installed on the CBC Network must be approved by  the Computer Center prior to purchase.

All new software shall be submitted to the network administrator for evaluation  and testing and to ensure that compatibility and security standards are met.

All new software installations and upgrades will require a minimum of 30 days notice before it is to be put into production.

Any software upgrades that affect many or all students will only be done between semesters unless it is to resolve an already existing problem.

Routine updates and Version upgrades will only be done between semesters,  and require a 30 day notice.
