• Biography

    Lavinia Isassi graduated from Texas A & I University – Kingsville in 1991 with a triple B.A. in English, psychology, and sociology.   She conferred her graduate degree from Texas A & M University in Kingsville in 1993 in English, with a minor in psychology.  She has over 24 graduate hours in sociology and 18 graduate hours in psychology as well.

    Ms. Isassi teaches psychology and sociology courses, as well as English 1301 and 1302.  She has been at Coastal Bend College since 2006, three years as an adjunct, and became a full-time instructor in 2009.  She teaches face-to-face, online, flex, and distance learning classes. She has also taught for the week-end college program.  She teaches at all sites (Alice, Beeville, Kingsville, and Pleasanton); however, Kingsville is her base site.

    A South Texas native, Ms. Isassi is interested in current events (from sports to politics) and popular culture.  Her academic areas of interest/specialty include social class, social inequality, deviance/crime, race relations, and discrimination.  Her teaching philosophy centers on practical application of her classes to the real world and the influence different disciplines have on each other.
