Carol
Hawkins-Garcia, Assistant Professor in Licensed Vocational Nursing at Coastal
Bend College (CBC), started her career in nursing education as an adjunct
instructor for Basic Nursing Skills Lab, Advanced Nursing Skills Lab and
Clinical Level II instruction with Coastal Bend College. She currently teaches
Anatomy and Physiology for Allied Health, Essentials of Medication
Administration, Medical Surgical Nursing I, Pharmacology, Basic Nursing Skills
Lab, Advanced Nursing Skills Lab, Clinical Level I and Clinical Level II instruction
at CBC.
Hawkins-Garcia
is currently pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Texas Tech Health
Sciences Center and scheduled to graduate in December 2017. She currently holds an Associate of Applied
Science (A.A.S.) Degree (2016) in Nursing from San Antonio College. She is also
an alumnus of Coastal Bend College, where she earned a Vocational Nursing
Certificate Level I (2005).
Hawkins-Garcia is
a Registered Nurse, and a Licensed Vocational Nurse, in the State of Texas. Her experience includes acute care setting as
a bedside nurse and as a quality improvement manager. She has also been an elementary school nurse. Hawkins-Garcia
has also enjoyed employment as a Charge Nurse in an assistant living facility and
Supervising Nurse in home health. Hawkins-Garcia also holds a CPR/BLS
Certification and ACLS Certification.
Hawkins is also a member of the American Nurse Association (ANA) and
Texas Association of Vocational Nurse Educators (TAVNE).
Hawkins-Garcia
enjoys travelling to visit her children, spending time with her grandsons,
watching professional basketball and gardening.
