• Course Evaluations

Coastal Bend College (CBC) is required by their regional accrediting body, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), to assess the quality and effectiveness of each full-time and part-time faculty member. Part of the assessment process includes the review of student course evaluations that are conducted each semester. This allows students the opportunity to share their opinion with the institution by providing feedback on each of their courses that they’re enrolled in. With student feedback, faculty and administration will be able to identify areas that need improvement as well as improve the quality of education of future classes for students

    Student

Each semester students will be asked to provide feedback on each of the courses that they’re enrolled in by completing a course evaluation survey through IOTA Solutions. Participation is 100% confidential. The questions that they’re asked focuses on how/what they learned, and how the instructor can improve. This allows the instructor a way to evaluate how they teach and possibly adjust their teaching styles, so students are encouraged to respond with honesty.

    Faculty

Faculty should encourage their students to complete their course evaluations in a timely manner. Evaluations are open for a specific period of time and cannot be re-opened after the session closes. Faculty will receive an email notification from IOTA Solutions informing them with the list of courses that will be evaluated. Evaluation results are made available to faculty at the end of each evaluation period and/or semester.
