• Chief Kevin Behr has been employed by Coastal Bend College since 1999.   He is currently assigned as the Chief of Police for the Coastal Bend College Police Department and concurrently as the Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management for the college district. Chief Behr is responsible for the management and operation of all law enforcement and emergency management operations.  

    Chief Behr holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence and is a Master Texas Peace Officer with over 30 years of experience in law and law enforcement. Chief Behr holds a certification as a SWAT operator and is a member of the Bee County Multi-jurisdictional Emergency Response Team. He is ALERRT trained and certified as an instructor for Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) and Active Shooter Response level I.

    His areas of expertise include Criminal Investigation, Police Tactics, and has accrued over 400 training hours in Death Investigation, Crime Scene Investigation and scene Reconstruction.  In addition to his duties at CBC, he continues to maintain his skill and proficiency as a forensic specialist employed part-time as a Sergeant and Lead Crime Scene Investigator for the Bee County Sheriff’s Office.

    Chief. Behr is a TCOLE certified Instructor and brings his advanced knowledge and aptitudes to law enforcement both in the field and in the classroom by providing continuing education to area law enforcement officers.  In addition to his law enforcement accolades, Chief Behr has been acknowledged for his teaching abilities by being awarded CBC Faculty of the Year in 2012 and the recipient of the nationally prestigious NISOD Excellence in Teaching and Leadership Award of the Year for 2012.  In addition, Chief Behr has also received Supervisor of the Year on two occasions from the Bee County Sheriff’s Office.

    Chief. Behr is a member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Beeville, the current President of the Board of Education for Beeville Independent School District and remains active within the community he serves.  He is the father of five and a grandfather of four.  In his off time, Chief Behr likes to hunt, engage in competition shooting, and travel.
