Loana Hernandez, Assistant Dean of Allied Health, comes to
Coastal Bend College with 20 plus years of nursing experience. Her experience initiated with Medical
Assistant and escalated to a Licensed Vocational Nurse (Bee County College),
and Registered Nurse (Del Mar College). Hernandez has been an Interim Director of the
Vocational Nursing program for Coastal Bend College for over a year. Her education includes earning an Associates
of Applied Science in Registered Nursing Degree (Del Mar), and is currently
enrolled in a Masters in Registered Nursing to Master of Science in Nursing
Educator (Texas A&M Corpus Christi).
Hernandez work experience includes working for the Christus
Spohn system and Kingsville Nursing Rehab Center, where she was a nurse and worked
Medical/Surgical/Telemetry/Pediatric Unit, trained nurses in Telemetry, ICU,
ER, and Nursery. She also managed and
assigned nurses to patients.
Hernandez is a member of the Texas Association of
Vocational Nurse Educators, American Nurses Association, and Texas Community
College Teachers Association.
