• Cindy Newton, Assistant Professor in Cosmetology, earned an Associates of Applied Science in Cosmetology from Hill College.  She has been a licensed Operator Cosmetologist since 1973 and a licensed #1053599 Cosmetology Instructor since 1992.  She previously taught at Ranger College as the Director of Cosmetology from 2011-2014.  Newton comes to CBC with 45 plus years of experience in Cosmetology, and was the owner of Cuttin Country Salon for 22 years. 

    Newton’s professional development includes: certifications in brands such as CHI, Matrix, Redkin, Pravana, and Tammy Taylor Nails. Through Nylynn Cosmetics, she is certified in facials, chemical peels, body wraps, makeup correction, and eyelash extensions.      

    Newton has built partnerships with salons and hair product manufacturers to include: Super Cuts, Great Clips, Paul Mitchell, Joico, Redkin, Matrix, CHI, and Pravanna.  She has also built partnerships with area salons, of which they often come in and do presentations for students, as well as hire her CBC graduates. She has judged for district and state levels of collegiate and high school levels for Skills USA. Newton is very connected in the community, where she takes students to the area nursing homes, and they do free haircuts, hairdos, and manicures for the residents.  She also takes students to do free haircuts to the children in the ICE program in San Antonio, Texas.  Newton takes her students to the World Hair Show in San Antonio or Austin, as well as other fashion shows to stay up with the latest styles, trends and fashions.  Some of her former students have been hired as models for CHI.   

    Newton and her husband Rick have two children and four grandsons, and they enjoy family time together and the outdoors. Newton’s favorite relaxation is gardening.
