dsc_2392-2-2.jpgThe Radiologic Technology Program at Coastal Bend College is a 22-month program that incorporates didactic, laboratory, and clinical education to prepare students for an exciting career as a Health Care Professional. The program is only offered on the Beeville Campus where two energized, fully digital laboratories are utilized. Upon completion of the program, students will earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology and qualification to sit for the certification and registration examination provided by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Students will also be advised on how to become licensed as a Medical Radiologic Technologist through the Texas Medical Board.

Program Mission  
The mission of the Coastal Bend College Radiologic Technology Program is to maintain standards of quality and integrity to develop technologists with internalized values of professionalism who will act in the best interest of their patients, promote cultures of ethical behavior in interdisciplinary settings, and contribute to the progression of the field.  
  
Program Goals with Student Learning Outcomes  
1. Students are clinically competent.  
      1.1 Students will produce diagnostic radiographs.  
      1.2 Students will provide safe, reliable patient care.  
2. Students will demonstrate proficient critical thinking skills.  
      2.1 Students practice critical thinking in clinical setting.  
      2.2 Students utilize critical thinking skills in traumatic situations.   
3. Students will communicate effectively.  
      3.1 Students use effective and oral communication with clinical staff and patients.  
      3.2 Students will demonstrate written and oral communication skills.  
4. Students will exhibit professionalism while performing Radiologic Technologist duties.  
      4.1 Students will demonstrate professional behaviors.  
      4.2 Students will demonstrate knowledge of professional attributes.  
 
All pre-requisite and co-requisite general education courses must be completed with a “C” or better.  
The program is exempt from the EDUC 1300 requirement.
GRADING SYSTEM:
The program utilizes the following grading system for all RADR courses.  
  
A=  100%-92% 
B=  91%-83% 
C=  82%-75% 
F=  74%-0% 
I=  Incomplete 
Students having been accepted into the program will be required to maintain a minimum grade of “75%” for all radiology courses.   

CLINICAL OBLIGATIONS:  
Students of the program will be required to display competency in general, mandatory, and elective imaging procedures as suggested by the ARRT during their clinical rotations under the observation of qualified Radiologic Technologists.Travel to clinical sites is the sole responsibility of the student.Clinic sites may be up to a one and a half hour drive from the Beeville Campus.
