Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Reporting- Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students
1. Coastal Bend College has signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and agreement and the assurance the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
2. Coastal Bend College has received a total of $1,066,771 from the Department of Education pursuant to the institution's Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

4. The institution estimates that a total of 2008 students at Coastal Bend College are eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
5. As of May 22, 2020, a total of 540 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

The College will allocate approximately $1,066,771 in funds to assist students registered in the Spring 2020 semester needing assistance for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus as stipulated by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) Act. Coastal Bend College expects to serve The college will allocate 60% of relief funds to "eligible" students who were enrolled full-time at CBC during the Spring 2020 Semester and 35% of relief funds to "eligible" students who were enrolled part-time at CBC during the Spring 2020 Semester. CBC will also designate 5% of relief funds for students who may qualify for CARES ACT relief aid and become eligible after the initial distribution of funds.
7. HEERF II Emergency Relief Funds
1. Coastal Bend College has received additional Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF II) through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act, 2021, Public Law 116-260, signed into law by President Donald J. Trump on Dec. 27, 2020.
2. Coastal Bend College has received a total of $1,066,771 from the Department of
Education pursuant to the institution's Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency
Financial Aid Grants to students.
3. As of April 8, 2021, Coastal Bend College has distributed the following total amounts of Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students:

4. The institution estimates that a total of 1860 students at Coastal Bend College are eligible to participate in programs under CRRSAA for the Spring 2021 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid grants. Coastal Bend College will prioritize students with exceptional need as per guideline requirements under CRRSAA.
5. As of September 1, 2021 a total of 1346 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant under Section 314(a)(1) of CRRSAA.
6. Coastal Bend College has established two cohort of students eligible to receive HEERF II emergency relief fund for Spring 2021 in the form of Block Grants. The methods used to determine which and how much currently enrolled students receive in HEERF II funds for Spring 2021 are as follows:
Cohort 1 - $500-$800 depending on enrollment
- Must have a valid 2020-2021 FAFSA on file
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Qualify for the Pell Grant Based on the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) 0-5711 reported by the FAFSA
Cohort 2 - $400-$700 depending on enrollment
- Must have a valid 2020-2021 FAFSA on file
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Awarded to students that do not qualify for the Pell Grant based on the EFC reported by the FAFSA
- Target students with qualified financial need but with EFC that indicate higher family contributions will receive $400 for part-time enrollment and $700 for full-time enrollment
- Unmet need did not take into consideration any loans or work-study amounts
7. Coastal Bend College is informing students of the availability of this funding through direct emails to students. The institution estimates that a total of 580 students are eligible to participate in programs under CRRSAA for Summer 2021. Coastal Bend College will prioritize students with exceptional need as per guideline requirements under CRRSAA.
Coastal Bend College awarded Summer 2021 CARES funds via application process meeting program guideline requirements. Eligible students were awarded up to $800 for Summer 2021 CARES Emergency Financial Aid Grant.
