Welcome to Coastal Bend College (CBC)! The information below provides a comprehensive overview of the registration process for our Phlebotomy Training program. You'll find all the essential details here, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.  

Program Overview: This 12-week program will prepare you with the knowledge and skills required to take and pass the NHA's Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam and related licensing exams. Our program begins with 6 weeks of lecture followed by a 6 week period to complete 48 hours of clinicals at the hospital. Please familiarize yourself with the information on pages 1-3 of the Phlebotomy Application. 

Notice: The Phlebotomy Training program operates on a first-come, first-served basis. This means that applications are processed in the order they are received, and program seats are filled accordingly. To maximize your chances of securing a spot in the program, we highly recommend submitting your completed application package as soon as possible, along with all required documents. 

Step-by-Step Enrollment Process for CBC Phlebotomy Program:

Kingsville: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5-9 PM 

  • January 7th - February 13th, 2025 
  • March 25th - May 1st, 2025 
  • July 22nd - August 28th, 2025 
  • October 7th - November 13th, 2025 

Alice: Saturdays, 8 AM - 5 PM 

  • February 8th - March 15th, 2025 
  • May 3rd - June 7th, 2025 
  • August 30th - October 4th, 2025 
  • November 15th - December 20th, 2025 

Beeville and Pleasanton programs are currently either full or not in session, but students may join the waitlist by emailing ce@coastalbend.edu. 

  1. Gather Required Documents:
  • Criminal History Background Check Results: 
  • Immunization Records: 
  • Provide a copy of your up-to-date immunization records. 
  • under “Immunization Quick Links” click on “Requesting Immunization Records”, fill out the linked PDF and email the completed form to ImmTrac2@dshs.texas.gov  
  • If unavailable, consider a TITER blood test from CVS, Quest Diagnostics, or Next Care Urgent Care to demonstrate immunity through antibodies. 
  • High School Diploma or GED: 
  • Provide a copy of your diploma or GED certificate. 
  • Students must have completed their sophomore year of high school. 
  1. Submit Your Application:
  • Compile all the required documents (application, background check screenshot, immunization records/titer test results, and diploma/GED copy). 
  • Applicants may submit photocopies of documentation, provided that the documentation is clearly photographed and legible. 
  • Submit your complete application package to ce@coastalbend.edu. 

One of the CE staff members will review the student's application for any necessary documentation. Once the student's application is approved and completed, the student is eligible to receive the bill for their course. 

  1. Tuition Payment:
  • The total program tuition is $750 ($350 for classroom and $400 for clinicals). 
  • You must pay the full tuition before the program's start date. 
  • Contact the CBC business office (361-354-2220) for payment options. 
  • Explore financial assistance options like Workforce Solutions, Crossroads, or TPEG Funding Grant. 

Financial Assistance Considerations: 

  • Continuing education courses are non-credit, so traditional financial aid cannot cover tuition. 
  • TPEG Funding Grant: 

To be eligible for this grant, students must have confirmed admission to the program. As this grant covers 40% of tuition, it can only be applied to an existing tuition bill. Students will receive a grant application via email upon program enrollment by our staff. 

  • Have your high school transcripts on file at the CBC admissions office (contact at 361-354-2217). 
  • A CE staff member will need to verify your registration before you can apply for the grant.

By following these steps, you can successfully enroll in the CBC Phlebotomy program. Remember that in order to be registered for a course, the student must complete their application packet to prove they are able to take the course.
