The Office of
Institutional Effectiveness and Research reviews research proposals to ensure
that the rights and welfare of human subjects used in research studies are
protected and any research is conducted in an ethical manner and in compliance
with established standards and best practices. Those individuals seeking to
conduct research may not solicit subject participation or begin data
collection until they have obtained clearance by the Office of Institutional
Effectiveness & Research.
Before approval of any
research project, Principal Researchers must complete training on the
Protection of Human Research Participants. Approved training is
available at either of these sites:
The National Institute of Health (NIH)
Office of Extramural research
The Collaborative Institutional Training
Initiative (CITI Program)
Research projects are
submitted to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness & Research.
Required documents include:
Completed CBC Request to Conduct Research form
Informed consent form
Measures/questionnaires used in the project
